The lithium-ion-polymer (LiPo) battery packs are the successors to the well-known lithium-ion (LiIon) battery packs. LiPo batteries offer a high capacity-to-size ratio, allowing for compact size and high energy efficiency, making them suitable for practically every AEG replica. They do not have the memory effect and can be charged frequently without needing to be fully discharged beforehand, making frequent charging beneficial for this type of battery.

It is important to avoid discharging the LiPo battery below the level of 3V per cell and overcharging it above 4.2V per cell. LiPo battery packs also have a low self-discharge rate, losing only about 3-5% of their energy when not in use. It is crucial to monitor the battery pack during long-term storage to prevent discharge below the minimum value, which can lead to irreversible chemical reactions and potential damage, including self-ignition. Unused LiPo battery packs should be stored at around 70% charge level.

When used properly, LiPo battery packs can last for approximately 500 to 700 cycles. LiPo cells perform well in low temperatures compared to ordinary battery packs, but it is still recommended to charge them at room temperature. Balancing the LiPo battery packs during the charging process using a service plug, which is commonly equipped with most LiPo battery packs, helps maintain their good condition. A reliable LiPo charger often includes a built-in balancer.
